A Latham shell leaves the plant finished. The gelcoat surface is already cured before the truck hits your street, so the finish does not depend on weather the week it goes in. A concrete pool is built and cured in your yard instead, which is why it takes longer to get to water.

Hole cut for the shell. Spoils out. Laser-leveled gravel base so the pool stays true in clay that moves with moisture.

Crane drops the factory shell. Plumbing connects. Water fill and gravel backfill together so pressure stays balanced.

Why two pools on the same street quote differently
The shell is the part you pick. These are the things that change what it costs to put it in the ground.
What is under the grass
Metro clay moves, and rock, old fill or a high water table all change the base work. Base prep is the least visible part of the build and the one that decides whether the shell sits still for good.
Shell size and style
We install 65 Latham styles, from compact plunge shells to large family rectangles. A molded tanning ledge or spa is chosen with the shell, not added later.
Decking and coping
How much hardscape goes around the water, and in what material, is usually the single biggest swing between two otherwise identical pools.
Permits and barrier
Metro cities enforce IRC-style pool barriers: a fence at least 48 inches, self-closing and self-latching gates, and openings a small child cannot pass. Requirements follow your address and your HOA.
Equipment and extras
Heating, automation, lighting and water features are real line items. We price them separately so you can see what each one costs and decide.
On the calendar: the part people picture, the dig and the shell going in, is the short part. What sets the date is everything around it. The building department has to clear the permit, the shell has to be scheduled and trucked from the plant, and Mississippi clay has opinions about when it can be worked after a wet week. We build the schedule around those instead of quoting a best case and explaining later, and when weather or ground conditions move a date you hear it from us early rather than finding out on the day.

Our focus is new Latham fiberglass installs, spas and outdoor living around new water. Remodel and resurfacing work is not our product line.
Can the same crew build an outdoor kitchen?
Yes. Outdoor kitchens, patios, pergolas, fire features and related hardscape are built by the same company on one schedule, with or without a pool.
How long does a fiberglass pool install take?
Once your Mississippi city or county permit is clear and the shell is scheduled, active on-site work is often weeks rather than a multi-month concrete cure cycle. Total calendar still includes permitting, shell lead time, weather and access. You get a schedule with the quote and updates when clay or storms move it.
What fence or barrier does Mississippi require for a pool?
Metro cities and counties generally enforce IRC-style residential pool barriers: typically a fence at least 48 inches high, self-closing and self-latching gates (usually swinging away from the pool), and openings small enough that a small child cannot slip through. Where the house is part of the barrier, door alarms or similar protection are often required. Exact setbacks and details follow the building department for your address, plus any HOA rules, and we include that in the permit package.
