On the roof
Roof Repair in Pearl, MS
Done properly a repair protects everything around it. Done carelessly it moves the leak somewhere harder to find. We trace water back to where it actually entered rather than sealing the nearest suspicious spot.
On Pearl's mid-century stock that distinction earns its keep, because the leak is usually at the seam between two previous roofers' decisions rather than in the field of the shingle.
Most of our work still comes from word of mouth. We set expectations up front, we do not over-promise, and nothing reaches your bill that you did not approve first.
Half of Pearl’s Storms Are Filed Under Flowood
If you have ever looked up whether a storm hit your Pearl address and come away confused, this is why. Of the storm reports whose plotted coordinates fall inside Pearl city limits, roughly half carry a National Weather Service location tag of Flowood. Only about fifteen percent are tagged Pearl.
The inversion runs both ways and it is visible in the narratives. A June 2017 report labelled Flowood describes roof damage and blown out third storey windows at a home on South Pearson Road in Pearl. The February 2008 EF1 that ran through the heart of Pearl is tagged Flowood at both ends. A May 2021 wind event filed under Flowood notes several homes with minor roof damage and shingles blown off, especially across Pearl, Flowood and Brandon.
We read the narratives rather than the labels when we are working out what hit a house and when. It matters for an insurance conversation, because the date of loss has to be right.
The Two Storms That Named Pearl Streets
In February 2008 an EF1 tornado touched down near Trustmark Park and traveled east-southeast for almost three and a half miles on a path 400 yards wide. Between the ballpark and Pearson Road it snapped many trees and damaged shingles on several homes. It crossed Pearson Road causing roof damage to several businesses, then moved across the Pine Park, Patton Place and McLaurin Heights subdivisions, where a number of homes suffered significant loss of roofing material. A downburst measured at 100 miles an hour came through just after it.
In December 2010 a second tornado strengthened as it entered Pearl. The highest winds recorded anywhere in Rankin County that day, 110 miles an hour, were here. Trees came down across neighborhoods and several fell on houses.
If you are on one of those streets that is a reason to have the roof looked at properly rather than a reason to worry. If you are not, the same weather crossed the town anyway.
Hail Bruises, Wind Creases, and Neither Leaks Today
Hail rarely punches a hole. It bruises the mat under the granules, which shortens the life of the shingle without leaking this year. Wind lifts and creases shingles without removing them, so a roof can be compromised and still look untouched from the street.
Rankin County has logged 231 hail reports since 1996, 123 of them at an inch or larger and 35 at golf ball size or bigger. Pearl's own reports include roof damage to buildings from inch hail in August 2000 and minor roof damage from inch hail in August 2001.
That is why the inspection happens on the roof with a camera, and why those photographs matter later. If a claim follows, evidence gathered before you file is worth far more than an argument afterwards.
Repair or Replace, and How We Decide
When the roof still has real life in it and the damage is contained, we repair it and give you an honest read on how long you have. Smaller job, smaller invoice, and we would rather do that than sell you a roof you do not need this year.
When it is finished, patching only postpones the same conversation by a season, and we will say so. If a storm caused it, decide between repair and claim before filing anything: see storm damage and insurance claims. On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it.

Common questions
How fast can you get to a leak in Pearl?
Active leaks get priority. Ring the office and we will tell you straight where the schedule stands rather than promise a day we cannot keep.
I cannot find a storm report for my Pearl address. Why?
Because roughly half the storm reports that physically happened inside Pearl are labelled Flowood by the National Weather Service. We read the narratives rather than the location tags, which matters when a claim needs the right date of loss.
My roof looks fine from the ground. Could hail have damaged it?
Yes, and that is the normal case. Hail bruises the mat under the granules and wind creases shingles without removing them. Both shorten the life of a roof without leaking the week it happens.
Should I file a claim for storm damage?
Worth deciding before you file. We document the damage properly first so the conversation with your adjuster rests on evidence. On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it.
