Roofing Company Serving Ridgeland, MS
Ridgeland sits about twelve miles from our shop at 721 Liberty Rd in Flowood, north up I-55 or around the reservoir. It is a Madison County city, and a different city from Madison itself, which borders it to the north.
Dickerson Contracting is licensed through the Mississippi State Board of Contractors, number 25203-MC, insured, BBB accredited and 5 star rated across more than 100 Google reviews. Jacob or Jordan runs every job with a superintendent on site, and the roof is built by one of the two crews we have trusted for over nine years.
Every Ridgeland job starts on the roof and in the attic, with photographs you keep whether you hire us or not, and one written price before anything comes off.
We set expectations up front and we do not over-promise. You approve every dollar before it becomes a bill.

The Ridgeland Permit Question, Answered Properly
Ridgeland is unusual, and most contractors get this wrong in both directions. The city amended the residential code to exempt roof coverings and flashings from needing a building permit, **provided the roof decking and supporting assemblies do not require repair or replacement**.
Read that condition again, because it is the whole thing. A straightforward re-roof over sound decking does not need a permit here. The moment the deck has to be repaired or replaced, which is exactly what hail and wind damage produce, the exemption ends and a permit is required. Anyone who tells you flatly that Ridgeland never permits roofs has not read the ordinance.
Commercial is different again: work costing $10,000 or more, or a significant change to the exterior, requires a permit regardless.
Licensed With the State, Bonded With the City
Ridgeland does not take a contractor at their word. Before anyone can pull a permit in the city they have to hold a Ridgeland general contractor license and file a $5,000 bond on the city own form, renewed annually. No bond in force, no permit.
The city also asks to see a Mississippi State Board of Contractors certificate where one applies, and it will not bond a company, only an individual. The homeowner exemption is narrow enough to be worth knowing: you may work on the home you own and occupy, but nobody unlicensed and unbonded may assist you.
Our license is MSBOC 25203-MC. Ask any bidder for both numbers, the state license and the city bond, before you compare prices.
A Deferred Roof Is a Code Issue in Ridgeland
The city property maintenance code puts it plainly: the roof and flashing shall be sound, tight and free of defects that admit rain, and roof drains, gutters and downspouts shall be maintained in good repair and free from obstructions.
That is worth knowing if you are weighing another season out of a tired roof. In Ridgeland a failing roof is not purely a private decision about your own comfort.
Storm Damage and Insurance Claims
Plenty of Ridgeland re-roofs start with weather. We photograph the damage, meet your adjuster on the roof and handle the supplement if the carrier scope falls short. On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it.

Common questions
Do I need a permit to re-roof a house in Ridgeland?
Only if the decking is involved. Ridgeland exempts roof coverings and flashings from permitting provided the roof decking and supporting assemblies do not need repair or replacement. Storm damage usually does involve the deck, which puts the job back into permit territory. We sort that either way.
What should I ask a Ridgeland roofer for?
Two things. A Mississippi State Board of Contractors license, and a current City of Ridgeland license with a $5,000 bond on file. The city will not issue a permit to anyone whose bond is not in force.
Do you actually work in Ridgeland?
Yes. The shop is at 721 Liberty Rd in Flowood, about twelve miles away, and Madison County is inside the area we work rather than a pin on a map.
Will insurance cover a storm-damaged roof?
On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it. We document the damage, meet your adjuster on site and handle the claim paperwork alongside the work.
