Inground Pools in Madison, MS
An inground pool is a construction project in your backyard, not a purchase that gets delivered. Excavators, a crane, several tons of spoil, plumbing, electrical and a concrete pour all have to happen in the right order in a space that was recently lawn.
Understanding that up front is the difference between a build that runs to schedule and one that discovers its problem on install day.
We built the Dickerson name on word of mouth. The pool division runs on the same habits: expectations set up front, no over-promising, and a quote that matches the bill.
The Permit, the Plot Plan and the Fence
Madison asks for more detail than most cities here, and it asks before the dig. The pool needs a building permit and an owner letter. The plot plan filed with it has to show setbacks, drainage, finished floor elevation, erosion and siltation control, and every above-ground accessory including the fence.
The fence is a separate building permit with its own sketch showing shape, size, height, location and all drainage from, onto or through the lot. The city fence ordinance caps height at six feet and keeps anything over thirty inches out of a required front yard.
One clarification worth having, because it gets repeated wrongly: the state pool safety act covers association, rental and club pools, not a private backyard pool. Your fence requirement in Madison comes from the city, which sets a four foot minimum with a self-latching gate.

Dig, Base, Set, Backfill, Deck
The excavation is cut to the shell. Then the base is prepared and compacted, which in this ground is the step that decides whether you ever think about the pool structure again.
The crane sets the shell in a single day. After that comes plumbing, backfill in lifts so the shell stays supported, equipment, electrical and finally the deck pour. Water goes in, chemistry gets started, and we run the system with you before handing it over.
Weather moves this schedule and anybody who tells you otherwise has not built in Mississippi. What we commit to is telling you when it moves and why.
What Comes Out of the Hole
A dig in Madison frequently starts in loess silt loam and finds expansive clay below it. That changes how spoil is handled and how the base gets built, and it is one reason we would rather see the yard than price a pool from a satellite image.
Several tons of material has to leave or be regraded. On an established Madison lot with mature trees and a tight side yard, that logistics question is often the one that decides where the pool can actually go.
Plan the Surround Before the Ground Closes
Even if the outdoor kitchen, the pergola or the fire feature is a later phase, running conduit, gas and drainage while the ground is already open costs a fraction of retro-fitting through a finished deck.

Common questions
Can you get equipment into a Madison backyard?
That is the first thing we check on the site visit. The excavator needs a route in, the crane needs reach and a set-up pad, and the spoil needs somewhere to go. Mature trees and tight side yards are normal here, so we measure rather than assume.
What paperwork does Madison require?
A building permit plus an owner letter for the pool, a plot plan showing setbacks, drainage, finished floor elevation and erosion control, and a separate building permit for the fence. We handle it as part of the build.
Does the Mississippi pool safety act require my fence?
Not for a private backyard pool. That act covers association, rental and club pools. Your requirement in Madison comes from the city: an enclosure at least four feet tall with a self-latching gate.
Should I plan the deck and kitchen now or later?
Plan them now even if you build them later. Running conduit, gas and drainage while the ground is open costs a fraction of retro-fitting through a finished deck.
