On the roof
Roof Repair in Clinton, MS
Done properly a repair protects everything around it. Done carelessly it moves the leak somewhere harder to find. We trace water back to where it actually entered rather than sealing the nearest suspicious spot.
On a 1970s Clinton house that distinction earns its keep, because the leak is usually at a seam between two previous roofers' decisions rather than in the field of the shingle.
There is no sales team here. You talk to Jacob or Jordan directly, and a superintendent runs every job.
Eleven Clinton Streets in the Federal Storm Record
The National Weather Service names specific streets when it surveys damage, and in Clinton the list is short enough to read. Airport Road, Clinton Boulevard, West and East Hillsdale Drive, Church Street, West Northside Drive, Clinton-Tinnin Road, Kickapoo Road, Pinehaven Drive, Maclean Road and US Highway 80.
A garage roof collapsed on Church Street in April 2019. In November 2020 a tornado touched down at Clinton Boulevard near West Hillsdale Drive, blew trees onto homes and power lines, and stripped roofing tin along its path. In March 2024 a tornado started near West Northside Drive, crossed Clinton-Tinnin and Kickapoo Roads, then crossed Pinehaven Drive before leaving town.
If you are on one of those streets, that history is a reason to have the roof looked at properly rather than a reason to panic. If you are not, the same weather crossed the town anyway.
Hail Here Has Been Genuinely Large
On 18 March 2013 the largest hailstone in the Hinds County record fell in Clinton, measuring four and a quarter inches across, at around ten to four in the afternoon. A separate report from the same system recorded substantial roof damage.
Clinton's own reporting point carries hail at two inches, an inch and three quarters twice, and an inch or larger on several further occasions. Across the county there have been 113 hail reports at an inch or larger since 1996, and 40 at golf ball size or bigger.
Hail that size does obvious things to windscreens and much less obvious things to roofs. It bruises the mat under the granules, which shortens the life of the shingle without leaking this year. Wind lifts and creases shingles without removing them. Both leave a roof compromised and looking untouched from the street, which is why the inspection happens up on it with a camera.
Ice Is the One Nobody Plans For
In February 2021, between a quarter and four tenths of an inch of ice accumulated on trees, power lines and roofs across the county. It brought down trees and power lines, and it collapsed the roof of a gas station in Clinton.
Ice load finds the roofs that were already carrying a problem: a sagging section, a deck that has been quietly wet, a low-slope area that ponds. A repair visit after an ice event is worth taking seriously even when nothing is leaking, because the damage that matters is structural rather than visible.
Repair or Replace, and How We Decide
When the roof still has real life in it and the damage is contained, we repair it and give you an honest read on how long you have. Smaller job, smaller invoice, and we would rather do that than sell you a roof you do not need this year.
When it is finished, patching only postpones the same conversation by a season, and we will say so. One Clinton wrinkle is worth knowing: the 2006 code the city enforces restricts re-covering more tightly than the modern one, so the repair-versus-replace decision here can also decide whether a tear-off is required.
If a storm caused it, decide between repair and claim before filing anything: see storm damage and insurance claims. On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it.

Common questions
How fast can you get to a leak in Clinton?
Active leaks get priority. Ring the office and we will tell you straight where the schedule stands rather than promise a day we cannot keep.
My roof looks fine from the ground. Could hail have damaged it?
Yes, and that is the normal case. The largest hailstone in the Hinds County record, four and a quarter inches, fell in Clinton in March 2013. Hail bruises the mat under the granules and wind creases shingles without removing them.
Should I have the roof checked after an ice storm?
Worth doing. The February 2021 ice storm collapsed a gas station roof in Clinton. Ice load finds roofs that were already carrying a sag, a wet deck or a ponding area, and that damage is structural rather than visible.
Should I file a claim for storm damage?
Worth deciding before you file. We document the damage properly first so the conversation with your adjuster rests on evidence. On a covered claim, you pay your deductible. That is it.
