Latham Fiberglass Pools in Ridgeland, MS

A Latham shell is molded in a factory, trucked in whole and lowered by crane in a day. Nothing is assembled in your yard and nothing is poured in place, so there is no joint in it to open up later.

We build Latham and nothing else. A company offering three construction methods is average at three of them, and we would rather do one thing the same way every time.

We built the Dickerson name on word of mouth. The pool division runs on the same habits: expectations set up front, no over-promising, and a quote that matches the bill.

Perched Water, Slow Drainage and Why the Shell Matters

The soils under Ridgeland have a specific habit worth understanding before you dig a hole in one. The USDA describes Siwell as a silty mantle 20 to 40 inches thick over calcareous clay, with very slow permeability and water perched above the clay at two and a half to three feet through winter and early spring. Byram behaves similarly over a fragipan.

Water that cannot drain sits somewhere, and where it sits it pushes. That is a hydrostatic argument as much as a soil-movement one, and it is the reason a pool in this ground wants proper drainage design rather than an optimistic hole.

A molded shell has give in it. Where the ground swells and shrinks with the seasons, a single piece with some flex handles that better than a rigid jointed assembly fighting it.

Owning One Through a Central Mississippi Summer

Fiberglass is non-porous, so algae has nothing to grip. Compare that with a plaster or gunite finish, which is microscopically rough by nature and gives algae a foothold every time the chemistry drifts.

Through a Mississippi summer that shows up as less chemical load and a shorter weekly routine, and the gelcoat never asks for the resurfacing cycle a plaster pool eventually does. Nobody buys a pool for its maintenance schedule, but you live with it for twenty years.

Where fiberglass is the wrong answer we say so. A shape that only exists in concrete, or a yard no crane can reach, is a real answer and not a sales objection.

What Ridgeland Does to the Catalog

Latham makes a wide range of shapes and the constraint is almost never the catalog. In Ridgeland it is the ten foot setback measured from the pool rim to every property line and recorded easement, plus whatever your crane path will allow under a mature canopy.

On a standard suburban lot with a rear easement, those two things together shorten the list considerably. We measure both on the site visit and hand you the shells that genuinely fit, not the full brochure.

The six foot enclosure belongs in that conversation too, because it changes the look and the cost of the finished backyard, and it is better priced at the start than bolted on at the end.

Warranty, Financing and One Number

Latham warrants the shell structurally and we stand behind the installation. After the site visit you get one written, itemized quote, and that is what you are billed, with nothing appearing later from a subcontractor you never met.

Financing runs through Lyon Financial and is worth settling before the dig.

FAQ

Common questions

Why fiberglass in Ridgeland ground?

The soils here drain slowly and, in the Byram and Siwell map units, sit over clay that swells and shrinks. A molded one-piece shell has enough give to move with that instead of fighting it, and a non-porous surface holds far less algae.

Does the gelcoat need resurfacing?

Not on the cycle a plaster pool does. The finish is smooth, non-porous and durable, which is a large part of why long-run ownership costs less.

How many shapes can I choose from?

Latham makes a wide range. In Ridgeland the real filter is the ten foot setback from the pool rim to any line or easement, plus crane access under the tree canopy. We tell you what fits after the site visit.

Is the shell under warranty?

Latham shells carry a manufacturer structural warranty, and the installation is ours to stand behind.
